Happy Fog Bowl 2007

We rang in the New Year with about 50 other paddlers at Fog Bowl. Its tradition for many kayakers in the area to get together for this New Years Paddle on Portage's 'Hot Pond,' Lake Columbia. The 2 mile stretch is about 85 degrees F year round and creates a foggy mist in the colder monthes. Lake Columbia is the cooling pond for the power plant on the far side of the lake..its a bit of an eye sore but you can hardly see it through the fog and we'll take the 85 degree water any day. After a great couple hours of paddling most of the kayakers loaded up their boats atop their car and headed to the Cactus Club for lunch...it was sweet to see kayak topped vehicles lining the downtown streets of Portage.
