Master Builders
Lately either one of two scenarios seems to be the norm; either the weather is great and we all feel miserable or the the weather is miserable and we all feel great. No matter how hard we try, the two have never coincided to work in our favor until about one week ago. The mercury was at a toasty 34 degrees. Comfy for Andrew and I and absolutely perfect for some serious cohesion between layers of snow. We skipped right over the "let's go out and make a snowman" step and went right to the "let's build an igloo phase." In all fairness, actually we had two days in a row of these perfect conditions so the igloo/fort you see here was begun the day before by Andrew and Mom. We merely picked up where they left off and made ourselves a mighty fine snow structure.
Andrew made certain I was never left for want of snow. Although much of it did end up down my collar he still did a mighty fine job of suppling the brick layer with material.
Unfortunately, we went back out later that day to continue and temps had dropped enough that the snow no longer bonded nicely. We built more bricks in anticipation of future construction but conditions have not cooperated for getting them into place.
Ultimately though, this was just what father and son needed. It was some time outside in fresh air, it was crafting something with our hands, watching the fruits of our labor come together before our very eyes. For a short while we were builders, there is something fulfilling about building. I think everyone needs a castle to call their own. It was a grand time.

This picture has nothing to do with snow forts, it just happens to be three cute kids hanging out on the steps.
