Some Recent Goings on

There has been so much happening lately that I thought I would give you all just a brief overview of all the fun and excitement.  

We have had some quality time with both grandmas lately.  My mom was up last weekend for a bit of time so we could hang out and take in the shower up at Rebecca's folks place.  We spent some time in the kitchen making pies, and cooking up some great eats .  The visit included the annual fall trip to the orchard although we just went for the cidar since we had more then enough apples from the trees at the other grandma's house.   Although we did find a few apples that seemed to have been dropped in a vat of carmel.  We did take a few of those off their hands too.  Thanks mom for coming up, next time we see you, we'll have a little one!!!

Diane came down for a whirlwind painting tour of virtually the entire downstairs of the house.  I know I have not talked much about our house on the blog before and that is for good reason... It's huge, there is too much to talk about, which means there is a lot to paint too.  Needless to say, this little kiddo is coming into nice fresh look.  Thanks Diane for all the hours of painting and whistling.  The photo above was the color of the master bath... As they say, It's not easy being green.

The first flakes of the season fell earlier this week.  Mo-T, one of our stellar staff members is heading to the 2018 Olympics so she needs all the snow we can get to train.  Check out her story at Faster Skier

The Tamaracks have turned into as Aldo Leopold describes them into a smokey gold color.  It is a magnificant sign of fall around here.  For those of you not familiar with the Tamarack, they are coniferous trees, that loose their needles, the only tree of its kind.  This photo was taken at our marsh at camp.

Each year at this time we host a group of kids from inner-city Chicago.  They are primarily latino students that come to us from some pretty tough home situations.  Often times, the quietness of camp is overweleming to them.  To get into the spirit of things we do a bit of trick-or-treating with them which is always a hoot.  Grandma and Grandpa sat in the rockers on the porch to pass out candy tonight.
