Sliding into 2009

What do you get when you gather up 26 wonderful, fun-loving summer camp staff, fresh fallen snow along with a generous offer to usher in the New Year on a private tubing hill and one oversized pair of ski goggles?  An absolutely wonderful new years day is what it all came down too.  And it came down fast!  The conditions were perfect.  Chuck, the one that made the generous offer, spent the day before grooming the slope to perfection.  He stocked the wood supply for the warming hut at the bottom too.  When one had had enough cold fluffy powder up the nose and down the back a trip to visit the 'ol pot belly stove was the perfect remedy.  

A tubing adventure such as this should not be attempted on an empty stomach.  If you'll notice the one thing this monstrous hill is shy on is some sort of automated system to return sledders to the top of the run.  Yup! That's right, good 'ol fashioned human power...  A tradition that we have continued during the summer is to offer breakfast for all our 45 staff members on Sunday morning from 9am to 11am each week before the new round of campers rolls in.  The house we live in is called the Gorman House so the meal is affectionately called Gorman Breakfast.  Since so many fine folks came back for the reunion we decided to once again host Gorman breakfast.  Good times were had by all and there was plenty of food to carry us through our sledding adventure.
