1 Full Week

Below are a few pics from our recent hospital visits. Until today Jeff was able to go out and spend time out of his room. We really enjoyed the hospital gardens and Andrew loved running around the pathways and by the water fountains.

Well it has been a full week since Jeff was admitted to the hospital and until yesterday you wouldn't know he needed to be there. He was in no pain and other than the fact that he couldn't eat or drink anything he was doing great. Yesterday, he started to feel and look like a patient for the first time. They are changing him over to a feeding tube. So, yesterday afternoon he had the procedure to get that in place. He was definitely groggy and in a bit of pain after that. Today he got his first bit of water in the tube and that went great so he got some "food" too. Hopefully once this heals up he will be able to get enough food in his tummy that he won't always feel hungry. They will be taking him off the TPN (the liquid nourishment that he was receiving in the IV) tomorrow. Today was also his second chemo day - which means 1 cycle down. A cycle is two treatments and his treatments are every other week. So only 5 more cycles (monthes) to go!
We'll see how the next couple of days go. He'll likely be in the hospital a few more days to see how he reacts to the chemo (they don't want him puking because that would mean he would have stuff in his esophagus and that is what they are trying to avoid so it can heal) and how the feeding tube heals and how his body handles the food from the tube. Hopefully we'll see him home in a few days.
Jeff wanted me to mention a huge thanks for all the cards, visitors, and prayers! We are so blessed - thanks for your support - it has truly been overwhelming.
