Family Getaway

For you longtime readers out there, you may remember a quote we used to have across the top of our front page.  It read, "life is too important to take seriously."  We took those words to heart and we dropped everything and headed to the lake!  One of the greatest lakes out there, Lake Michigan, that is.  Only a week and a half out from surgery, I am not supposed to be picking up the kids so we brought two extra sets of hands!  Thanks to Kate and Kevin, we were able to have a marvelous time on the shores of Lake Michigan in beautiful Sheboygan, WI.

It's not too often that one hears of a Camp Director taking time off in mid-May right before the season but time together as a family was just what we needed.  My kids are to a point where watching them play completely unencumbered brings me such tremendous joy.  The weather was grand, the ice cream was plentiful and sand was sufficiently dispersed throughout all our belongings.  It was glorious.  Cancer was far from our minds, just where it needed to be for those few short days.  It's back to the realities of life now and I will go into that in the next post.  Even if you are not facing some crazy life changing illness, get out and play!  I whole heartedly support it.
